Abschluss

Noch ein Wort zum Abschluss des letzten Semesters:

Es haben alle ein tolles Ergebnis geliefert.
Der Notenschnitt wurde aus 1/3 Theorieprüfung und 2/3 Projektarbeit ermittelt.
Der Notendurchschnitt beträgt genau 2,0.

Die Präsentationen in der Werkschau waren durchweg sehr gut und konnten überzeugen.

Creating your own Material Library

to answer the question, how to create your own material library, please download the file here:

it is a short information on how to build your own material library.
Please make sure, that the texture files you are using (all kind of images for DIFFUSE, OPACITY, etc.) are stored in a folder 3ds Max knows.

Check out under CUSTOMIZE | CONFIGURE USER PATHS... | EXTERNAL FILES
Otherwise create a subfolder under your project folder and save all the needed texture files in here. Don't forget to add this path to max.

If the texture files are stored in the same folder you have saved your max-file, 3ds Max automatically find the textures.

Schedule and contribution

[SCHEDULE]
Our last lecture is Tuesday, 19th of January - next week.
Please be there as I need you to sign the form “TEILNAHME AM LEISTUNGSNACHWEIS”.

The presentation of your animation will be Tuesday, 26th of January.
Please prepare all the data needed for the presentation as described under contribution.

[CONTRIBUTION]
The project files have to be prepared as described:

SHORT DESCRIPTION of your animation project.
Please create a short PDF-file and name it:
NACHNAME_VORNAME_DOKU.pdf
(NAME_SURNAME_DOKU.pdf)

The short description should give a short overview about the animation project.
Please insert two images:

1. Image of your original design draft (Haandzeichnung)
2. Rendered still image

The short description has to be one page (A4)

MOVIE
Please name the final movie:
NACHNAME_VORNAME_FILM.avi
(NAME_SURNAME_FILM.avi)
For rendering the movie out of MOVIEMAKER please use the following settings:
FILMEINSTELLUNG | WEITERE EINSTELLUNGEN: Video für LAN (1,0 Mbit/s)

3DS MAX
Please name the original 3ds Max File (3ds Max Release 2009), including all texture files (images).
NACHNAME_VORNAME_3D.max
(NAME_SURNAME_3D.max)

To be sure, that there are all texture files included use the tool RESSOURCE COLLECTOR in 3ds max.
You will find it under: UTILITIES | RESSOURCE COLLECTOR
OUTPUT PATH: this is the path, where all files will be copied to.
activate: COLLECT BITMAPS
activate: INCLUDE MAX FILE
activate: UPDATE MATERIALS
Please pack all results (max-file and textures) to one ZIP-File and name it:
NACHNAME_VORNAME_ARCHIV.zip
NAME_SURNAME_ARCHIV.zip

Render Output and Video Editing

RENDEROUTPUT in 3ds Max

Please check the following settings before you start rendering:

[TIME]
Use TIME CONFIGURATION to set the correct frame rate:
FRAME RATE: PAL (25 fps)
TIME DISPLAY: SMPTE
END TIME: the end time of you scene

[RENDERING]
RENDERING | RENDER SETUP | COMMON PARAMETERS
ACTIVE TIME SEGMENT or RANGE (choose a time range)

[IMAGE SIZE]
Choose OUTPUT SIZE:
PAL-D1 (Video) 720 x 576 Pixel

[RENDER OUTPUT]
Activate FILES and define a name for the file which has to be rendered.
Select AVI and use DV Video Encoder.
